Sick Child Policy

Parameters for not accepting or discharging a child

If the following symptoms are present please keep your child home and notify the Care Center.   If symptoms appear after admission your child will be immediately discharged and must be picked up within 1 hour.

  • Fever of 100º orally or a skin/underarm temperature of 99º (Your child should remain home for 24hrs after being fever free without fever reducing medications.)

  • Children will not be admitted to Caring Corner unless these symptoms (that are not the child’s normal state of health) have been absent for 24 hours. 

  • Vomiting: two or more times in 24 hours.

  • Runny nose: yellow or green mucus.

  • Diarrhea: three or more water stools in 24 hours.

  • Rash: undiagnosed, especially with a fever or itching.

  • Red eyes: thick mucus or pus draining from the eye.

  • Sore throat: with a fever or swollen glands.

  • Exposure to a communicable disease within the past 12 hours.

  • Not feeling well, unusually tired, pale, lack of appetite, or change in behavior.

  • Open sore or drainage that is unable to be covered

Your child may return to Caring Corner 24hrs after beginning an antibiotic prescribed by their physician.

Please inform Caring Corner staff immediately of any changes to contact information.  In order for us to appropriately provide for your child’s health and comfort, it is essential we have current phone numbers on our emergency contact list.
