The answers to questions every family asks.
Enrollment, nursing care, ratios, insurance, meals, safety — the honest answers, gathered in one place. If your question isn't here, we'd rather you call than guess.
Getting Started
-
The best way to get started is to book a tour. During your tour, you’ll meet with the medical team for a nursing assessment, and we’ll walk you through the enrollment package together. Nothing gets filled out alone.
-
Most families are enrolled within two to three weeks. Timing depends on how quickly physician orders come back and how much back-and-forth insurance requires. We manage that paperwork with you, not in place of you.
-
Yes! We work with you and your schedule to plan a facility tour and time for you to meet with the nrusing team.
-
Free to qualifying families. Not sure if you qualify? Just give us a call and we’ll walk you through the options.
-
No. As long as your child has a qualifying disorder, you do not need a doctor’s referral to enroll.
Medical Care & Staff
-
Yes. We are licensed as a Pediatric Day Health Care center, staffed with pediatric-experienced RNs and LVNs on the floor every hour of operation, and everything we do runs on physician orders.
-
G-tube and NG feedings, tracheostomy care, ventilator support, oxygen, seizure protocols, insulin management, medication administration, wound care, and complex behavioral support plans. If you're unsure whether we can support your child, just give us a call us.
-
Yes. Our early childhood educators are credentialed and build the daily curriculum alongside the nursing team, so medical care and learning happen at the same table.
A Day at Caring Corner
Routines, meals, communication, and how families stay in the loop.
-
Arrival and nursing check-in, breakfast or feeds, circle time, structured play and learning, therapy blocks, lunch and rest, sensory or outdoor time, afternoon snack, and a written handoff at pickup. Every medical task is folded into that flow, not scheduled around it.
-
You get a written daily report at pickup covering meals, feeds, meds, mood, milestones, and any notable clinical observations. Your nurse is also available at drop-off and pickup for anything the report can't capture.
-
Yes. We have a fully operational kitchen and plan meals and snacks around each child's diet, allergies, and feeding plan. Families can also send meals from home when that's easier.
-
We review each child's plan on a set cadence with the physician, therapists, and family together - any time something meaningful changes at home, at school, or clinically.

Yes. We stay open through most school breaks and offer full-day coverage in summer for our afterschool families. We close for major federal holidays — a calendar goes home each year.
-
Yes — many families do. Preschool during the week with one respite weekend a month is common; afterschool during the school year with full days in summer is common too. We'll help map a schedule.
-
Yes, we coordinate with your child’s school district to align care, therapy, and educational goals.

We can help coordinate afterschool pickup from partner schools within our service area. For medical daycare and TCU, families provide transportation to and from the facility.
Insurance & Billing
-
Yes. We work with Medi-Cal and most managed Medi-Cal plans.
-
We never charge you directly, but bill your Medi-Cal. Kern Regional Center clients should contact their service coordinator to request a purchase of service.
Policies & Safety
-
We are a facility for children who are medically fragile but not currently contagious. This is to maintain the safety for all the students at Caring Corner. If you child is sick, please consult our full sick child policy here.
-
Sign-in/out for every drop-off and pickup. Only pre-authorized adults may pick up.
